Seven Circles
Mixed medium abstract sculpture, 20âh. x 12âw. x 10â d.
wood, paint, plaster, ink, glass, diffraction grid, tape, glue, PVC pipe, sisal rope, LED light, metal grid and nails.
This work is based on my interest in the nature of light in sculpture. With Seven Circles I am exploring the nature of diffraction by observing how white light breaks into colors as it passes through a diffraction grid. Diffraction is defined as the process by which a beam of light is spread out as a result of passing through a narrow aperture or across an edge, typically accompanied by interference between the wave forms produced.
